The following are the vocabulary words for this week for the story The ACES Phone. Please take some time to review them with your child.

  1. torrent (n.) – a large amount of something that is released suddenly
  2. accustomed [to] (adj.) – used to or familiar with something
  3. void (n.) – an empty space
  4. swiveled (v.) – turn around; spin
  5. clustered (v.) – come together into groups
  6. transmission (n.) – something that is sent as an electrical signal to a radio, TV, satellite, etc.
  7. doleful (adj.) – very sad; pitiful
  8. clamor (n.) – very loud noise
  9. urgent (adj.) – very important needing attention right away
  10. coaxed (v.) – persuaded in a friendly way
