Welcome back to another awesome year at Happy Kids. It was great meeting my students for this year today. I was especially glad they all came since classes haven't quite started yet for elementary school.

We had a lot of fun today learning about each other and the rules of the classroom. I know this will be one of their most memorable years yet at Happy Kids.

I want to remind parents to pay special attention to the material sent home today. While I post almost everything for class right here on the website, some things do not get cross-posted. Feel free to make a request if you want something posted here.

We started two tasks today. One was our independent reading assignment. Students are required to set a reading goal for home and hit it every week. They must complete a WIRSF  (PDF) each week to show they completed their reading. Please help by allowing your child to read 15-30 min a day this year. The results will amaze you.

We also began work on our "I Am" Poems. These poems will help students learn more about themselves and each other. I hope to post them on the school's 2F bulletin board when they are done.
